Supporting communities
Good housing is the bedrock for a decent life. We play a pivotal role as change agents in helping to build sustainable communities.
PlaceShapers
With Government
emh group provides affordable homes to meet diverse needs, so that safe and healthy communities can thrive.
We engage with senior decision-makers to influence policy issues affecting the sector, such as the Department for Housing and Levelling Up, health and social care commissioners, local authorities and the police.
Nationwide
We sit on the steering group of PlaceShapers, an influential national alliance of over 100 community-focused housing associations.
Member organisations pledge to put residents and customers at the centre of their work and ensure that they have influence on how organisations evolve, providing more than traditional landlord services.
Members of the group play a leading role in the National Housing Federation, the Chartered Institute of Housing and commissioning bodies for health and social care.
On the ground
We promote equality, diversity, inclusion and sustainability every day. Our care and support services assist people who need extra help, including customers with learning difficulties, and people in later life, with mental health issues, young parents, and those affected by homelessness or domestic abuse.
We tackle anti-social behaviour by handling and investigating complaints or mediating between parties.
The wellbeing of our customers is vital, so we run community events, and provide advice on money, housing and employment issues face-to-face and through our resident-focused publications and online material.
Tackling homelessness
As a social housing and care provider, we have a significant presence in the East Midlands and a strong track record of delivering accommodation and support services.
Our Homelessness Strategy sets out how we’re helping to tackle the national homelessness crisis, by:
- Providing of homes (including Housing First projects)
- Preventing homelessness
- Lobbying
- Partnership working.
