Extra care enables people to live independently in their own accommodation.
Residents have their own flat or bungalow as well as access to high levels of personal care, meals, domestic support, activities, nursing, and 24-hour security.
Our extra care homes are designed for people aged over 55. We adapt care and support to the needs and abilities of residents.
Visitors are welcome to stay in a guest suite, if available, for a small cost.
- Who is eligible?
To be eligible to live in one of our extra care homes you need to:
- Be aged 55 years or older
- Require at least three-and-a-half hours of care and support each week
- Have a local connection to the area and/or you or a member of your family lives there
- Where are our extra care homes?
We operate the following extra care homes, each compliant with the standards of the Care Quality Commission:
St Mary’s in Lutterworth, Leicestershire
St Mary’s House extra care scheme, is in the heart of Lutterworth town. Easily accessible to all local amenities. Within St Mary's we have:
- Two communal lounges
- A guest room
- A hairdressing salon
- Large communal gardens
- Communal dining room
- Lunch is provided every day for all tenants via a catering service provided by ABM Catering.
The scheme provides a 24/7 on-site care service.
To apply for an apartment within St Mary's, please contact Leicestershire County Council and request a community care assessment for Extra Care. This is to assess if you meet the criteria of needing three-and-a-half hours of care, per week.
Oak Court, Blaby, Leicestershire
Oak Court combines 50 one- and two-bedroom self-contained apartments for rent, with a range of communal spaces for tenants to enjoy.
In each flat there is an integral cooker, space for a washing machine and fridge freezer.
There are 'Lifeline' pull cords in all the rooms within the flat and a pendant for the tenant to wear for use in emergencies.Our tenants are predominantly over 55 years of age, but we also welcome younger people with a disability.

Oak Court has various communal areas for tenants to use and enjoy. We have a communal lounge and dining room and hairdressing salon with two hairdressers and a beautician. There's also a shop run by a local shopkeeper who delivers papers and magazines and will provide requested items. In addition, we have a:
- Library and music room with a piano, record player, communal jigsaw and chess board
- Cinema and art and craft room
- Communal spa bathroom with a specialist jacuzzi bath
- Scooter room and bin store and three laundry rooms with a total of five washing machines and tumble driers.

Waterside Court, Loughborough
At Waterside Court extra care scheme, we have 62 flats, ten of which are double bedroom properties.
The building was specifically designed to help individuals with care and support needs and for those who are aged 55 and over. However, we can also consider younger people with a disability depending on their care needs following an assessment.
Within Waterside Court we have various communal areas for tenants to use and enjoy. We have a communal lounge and dining room, hairdressing salon with two hairdressers and a beautician, and shop run by a local shopkeeper. We also have a:
- Library and music room
- Cinema and art and craft room
- Communal spa bathroom with a specialist jacuzzi bath
- Scooter room and bin store.

Wrights Court, Kettering
